Weekly and monthly car hire in London
Some hires last longer than a weekend. A project in London, a long visit, a car while yours is being repaired or a few weeks before a new car arrives all call for something between a day hire and a lease. R3ntal Central offers weekly and monthly hire across our luxury fleet, with no minimum hire.
How longer hires work
You book a weekly or monthly hire the same way as a day hire. Choose your dates, pick a car that's free for the whole period, sign your agreement online and pay the £100 booking deposit, which comes off your hire price. Daily, weekly and monthly rates are available, and you'll see the full price before you book.
For hires longer than a month, call us to discuss what you need.
Hire or lease?
A lease and a long hire both put a car on your drive, but they suit different needs.
| Weekly or monthly hire | A lease | |
|---|---|---|
| Commitment | As long as your booking | Usually years |
| Minimum term | No minimum hire | Set by the lease |
| Insurance | Included for drivers over 25 | Usually arranged separately |
| Changing your mind | Request a change or an extension through your account | Usually limited by the contract |
| Choosing a different car | Book a different car next time | Fixed for the term |
Hire suits you when you know the end date, when it may change, or when you'd rather not take on a long agreement. A lease may suit you when you want the same car for years. If you're weighing the two for a business, see our business car hire page or ask us.
Extending your hire
Plans change. As a Syndicar agency, we can offer a client portal where you can request an extension to your booking. We'll confirm whether the car is free for the extra days, and the change is recorded on your booking.
See changes and extensions for how requests work.
Looked after for the whole hire
A long hire still comes with a customer experience manager and our 8am to 8pm support line. Your bookings, charges, payments and documents stay in your account for the whole hire.
At collection and return, the car is inspected with you and photographed, so the condition of the car at both ends is on record however long you've had it.

Planning a longer hire
A few things are worth settling before a long hire starts.
- Your end date. Book the dates you know. If they move, request an extension through your account rather than waiting until the last day.
- Who will drive. Every driver needs a clean licence and to be at least 25. Some cars can be hired by younger drivers, depending on the vehicle.
- Where the car will live. Check parking at your home, hotel or office. See parking in London.
- Where you'll drive. If you'll be in central London regularly, read our guides to the Congestion Charge and the ULEZ.
- Collection or delivery. On a long hire, delivery to your address can save a trip across London.
Deposits on a longer hire
The deposits are the same whatever the length of your hire. A £100 booking deposit secures the car and comes off your hire price. The security deposit is £500 for drivers aged 23 and over, £1,000 for drivers under 23, and £1,000 for performance and luxury cars whatever the driver's age. Half is returned after a clean check-in and the rest 14 days later. See deposits.
