Collecting and returning your hire car

Two inspections, recorded with you, so the condition of the car is never in question.

Collection and return are the two moments that matter most in any hire. At R3ntal Central, both are built around an inspection recorded with you, so the condition of the car at each end is on file and never a matter of memory.

Collection

You can collect from our depot in Hainault, East London, or ask about delivery and collection to your address, available at extra cost. See delivery and collection.

At collection:

  1. We check your licence. Bring your driving licence with you.
  2. You pay the balance, if it isn't paid already. The car can't go out until it is.
  3. We inspect the car with you. Staff record the inspection on our app and photograph the car before you drive away.
  4. You confirm the inspection and take the keys.

During your hire

Your customer experience manager is your contact for anything that comes up, and our support line is open from 8am to 8pm. If you need more time, request an extension through your account. See changes and extensions.

Return

  1. Bring the car back to the depot, or have it collected from your address if that's what you arranged.
  2. We inspect the car with you and photograph it again.
  3. The hire is closed. A hire can't be closed without both inspections.

If you need to return the car early or late, let us know as soon as you can. Early returns are reviewed by our team, and late returns may be charged as set out in your hire agreement.

Your security deposit

When the return inspection finds no damage, half of your security deposit is returned straight away and the rest 14 days later. If there is damage, it's recorded with photo evidence, and the cost is taken from the deposit. Outstanding charges from the hire are also taken from the deposit balance. Every change is logged. See deposits.

Why two inspections

Two inspections protect both of us. Anything already on the car at collection is recorded, so you're never asked to account for it. Anything new at return is recorded with photos, so there's no dispute about what happened or when. As a Syndicar agency, we can offer the assurance that any damage is documented correctly at collection and return.

Tips for a smooth return

  • Leave a little time for the inspection.
  • Remove your belongings and check the boot, glovebox and door pockets.
  • If you notice anything during your hire, tell us before you return the car.
